DAY 4 - BLACK RIVER GORGE IN REVERSE

It's a rainy start but we follow the south coast road back to Bel Ombre, and then up the hill (basically Tuesday in reverse)

We linger at a temple complex at Grand Bassin crater lake

and admire its huge Ganga Talao statues of Shiva and Parvati 

At Le Petrin, there's a conservation and rescue area for the endemic pink pigeon population (critically endangered - once widely distributed, there were only 12 birds in 1986; it's now up to 470) - sadly the specimen we saw was impressed by the rain as we are and not keen to give us a show.
